Cultural Cooking
Cooking has always been a means of expressing the culture of a society and the people who belong to that society since ancient times. Where the dining table is one of the cornerstones around which family members, friends, relatives and colleagues gather to get closer and share conversations, experiences and ideas. Our beautiful project (Cultural Cooking Project) was born from this idea.
Many women from different cultures and countries come together to cook together and share recipes and information about each dish, its ingredients and benefits. The women learn about each other’s society’s cultures in terms of customs, food and traditions, then sit together, to eat and share their problems and plans and the information and skills they have acquired in their new country.

The self-help groups
In a support group, members provide each other with various types of help, usually nonprofessional and nonmaterial, for a particular shared, usually burdensome, characteristic. Members with the same issues can come together for sharing coping strategies, to feel more empowered and for a sense of community. The help may take the form of providing and evaluating relevant information, relating personal experiences, listening to and accepting others’ experiences, providing sympathetic understanding and establishing social networks. A support group may also work to inform the public or engage in advocacy.
